Obama: Sane addressing of racism
I’m feeling dangerously close to hopeful. Obama has delivered what should be a historic speech about racism in America. He is articulate, passionate, reasoned, fair, and hopeful. And according to reports he wrote the speech himself. I’m keenly aware that pretty words are a very different thing than effective action, but if this man actually walks his talk he could change the face of this country.
We’ll see what happens.

Again, he has my vote. Sure, he’s not perfect….anybody looking for perfection in a politician should just go ahead and sign up for serious counseling, anyway…but he has the most potential of any political figure in my lifetime for doing some Very Good Things if he can get into office. And, unlike many politicians, including his machiavellian opponent, I actually feel like Obama has his heart in the right place.
Let’s just hope Clinton doesn’t totally screw everything up…but I’m afraid her carpet-bombing campaign is working with lots of Americans, who, after all, were gullible enough to (sorta-kinda) elect and, even worse, re-elect (again, sorta-kinda) GWB.
Never put it past the majority of Americans to fuck up.

Oh, and the speech? Most courageous speech I’ve ever heard a political figure make, especially during a tight campaign when most would play it “safe”.
