Let the disappointments begin
Obama has selected an anti-abortion and anti-gay minister to do the God stuff at his inauguration.
Dude. Seriously. What the fuck?

A lot of people are up in arms about this, and I can definitely see why many are upset. Still, Obama is merely doing what he promised to do since the campaign began: he’s reaching out to those who disagree with him, in this case the evangelical community. It would be hard to find an evangelical minister who is not anti-abortion and anti-gay, and Obama could have chosen a much, much worse representative. I’m neither happy nor disappointed in the least about the pick. I would prefer no minister at all and have Obama swear in on the Constitution rather than a Bible. But that’s just me.
Instead of focusing on the minister stuff, though, I choose to focus on the fact that for the first time since Clinton’s inaugaration, we’ll be having an inaugaral poet! Welcome back, arts and culture!
