Go west, young man

Wow.  I’ve started digging into the practical realities of this intentional community thing and it turns out that it’s an enormous undertaking.  To be able to do what I want to do, I’ve got a lot to learn.  Permaculture,  natural building, zoning regulations, legal structures… the list goes on and on.  And then I’ve got to take all that and figure out how to weave it through with a spiritual foundation that is somehow solid yet broad in appeal.

The good news is there’s no shortage of opportunities to learn.  There are all kinds of internships, workshops, conferences, etc for this stuff.  It turns out that most of them are on the other side of the Mississippi, which syncs with my recent sense of west-ness about my future.  I’m not sure where I’ll start, but I have a feeling things are going to start lining up before long.

Just make sure you go far enough west….for godsakes, don’t end up in Utah!

    Heh.

At this point several signs are pointing to New Mexico. Hot and dry isn’t exactly what I had in mind, but then I never seem to be consulted about these things. :)
